Activities

Alley Cat Art Fest is packed with fun, interactive experiences and picture-perfect photo opportunities throughout the festival footprint. From hands-on art activities for kids to immersive installations for all ages, there’s something to discover around every corner. Best of all, these activations are family-friendly and FREE!

Watercolor Wind Installation

Experience art in motion with Watercolor Wind, a temporary installation inspired by movement, transition, color, and the natural elements.

Created by a talented local art team, the installation features flowing ribbons that dance and move with the wind, creating a constantly changing visual experience. Spanning approximately 4 feet tall and 36 feet long, the installation welcomes visitors at the entrance to Olaf Wieghorst Museum Courtyard off Art Alley.

Stop by, take a moment, look up, and let the wind bring the artwork to life. And, of course, don’t forget to snap a photo in front of it!

Cool Cats & Pinwheels: Kids Activity

Let your creativity take flight!  The Downtown El Cajon Association is hosting a FREE, hands-on kids activity for artists of all ages in Prescott Promenade. Young artists and engineers can create their very own whimsical, kid-safe paper pinwheel.

Choose your colors, decorate your pinwheel blades with markers and stickers, then put it all together and take it for a spin. Once your creation catches the breeze, you’ll see your artwork come alive through movement!

Create it. Spin it. Watch it whirl!

Parker Van Gogh: Kids Activity

Unleash your creativity with the City of El Cajon Parks & Recreation team in Prescott Promenade! Artists of all ages are invited to create their own colorful paper mosaic, for FREE, featuring the City’s beloved mascot, Parker the Parrot, reimagined as a Van Gogh inspired masterpiece.

Let your imagination soar, channel your inner artist, and create a one-of-a-kind Parker Van Gogh keepsake to take home from Alley Cat Art Fest!

I Am. We Are. #DTElCajon Community Art Project

Help us create a work of art that celebrates the people who make Downtown El Cajon special!

Located in Prescott Promenade, I Am. We Are. #DTElCajon Community Art Project invites kids and adults to add a face or their likeness to one of the multicolor circles that will come together to create a larger community artwork.

Each circle represents a face. Each face represents a person. Together, they represent the diversity, creativity, and community of Downtown El Cajon.

Because at the end of the day, WE ARE #DTELCAJON.
