Downtown El Cajon CBID Renewal
The Downtown El Cajon Community Benefit Improvement District (CBID), formerly the PBID, is approaching its renewal, with the current term ending in 2026. As a property owner in the district, your awareness and involvement are essential to continuing the services that help keep Downtown El Cajon one of East County’s most vibrant and well-maintained neighborhoods.
What the CBID Provides
Since its formation, the CBID has delivered enhanced services beyond what the City provides, including:
- Sidewalk and public space cleaning
- Landscape and beautification maintenance
- Pressure washing
- Holiday décor and special events
- Safety and hospitality enhancements
These efforts support the cleanliness, appeal, and economic vitality of Downtown El Cajon.
What to Expect in the Renewal Process
The renewal process will include:
- A review of current service levels
- Potential updates to district boundaries or assessments
- Public meetings for property owner input
- Preparation of a detailed Engineer’s Report
Property owners will receive advance notice of all meetings and are encouraged to participate.
Proposition 218 Petition & Ballot
Renewal requires a property owner petition and a Proposition 218-compliant ballot process. A majority of weighted ballots in favor is needed for the CBID to continue beyond 2026. Your participation directly shapes the district’s future.
