El Cajon Community Development Corporation (El Cajon CDC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), community based organization formed to conduct comprehensive and managed community revitalization in Downtown El Cajon through the application of Smart Growth Principles. El Cajon CDC creates a healthy community by increasing public and private investment in El Cajon, and providing safe and affordable housing opportunities for all residents within its boundaries. We believe in Downtown El Cajon!

Charter
El Cajon CDC is federally designated as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) and Community Based Development Organization (CBDO). El Cajon CDC is also a Property Based Improvement District (PBID) representing over 250 parcels and is certified as a National and California Main Street Community.

Boundaries
The target area is centered in El Cajon's historic Downtown area, and located within a federally designated Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area.
- The Community Development Corporation target area encompasses over 300 city blocks, includes the business District as well as residential neighborhoods, and is bordered on the north by Interstate 8, on the south by Washington Avenue, on the west by Marshall Avenue and on the east by Mollison Avenue.
- The Property Based Improvement District is bordered roughly on the north by Interstate 8, on the south by Lexington Avenue, on the west by Marshall Avenue and on the east by Lincoln Ave. At present there are over 400 businesses of wide variety operating within District boundaries.
- The El Cajon CDC boundaries correlate to the City's target area for low to moderate income subsidized housing as defined by the City's Redevelopment Agency.
